A sick Valentines for Illinois today (another one)
Mood:  don't ask
Topic: News on News

Supermodel Cynthia Ann (Cindy) Crawford was born (February 20, 1966 )

in DeKalb, Illinois where she went to high school and also briefly attended Northern Illinois State University.

A very sad tragic day for a school, a state and a nation  today though

Shocking news at Northern Illinois State University where a unmasked shooter opened fire killing 3 people and injuring a dozen more

achieving more ugly notoriety rather than such small reknown for producing rare qualities of beauty and fame.

TV news telephone interview with a Northern Illinois University student in a geography class lecture when a gunman quietly entered the hall and randomly opened fire

DeKalb, Illinois : also the birthplace of barbed wire, the city of its invention.

The US definitely needs to do more to protect its citizens at home.

Barbed wire isn't doing much at this stage it would only seem.

Just some 50-60 miles SE of todays shooting and less than two weeks ago ...a yet unidentified gunman, who is still on the run,  shot dead five women in a store shopping mall in a suburb outside of Chicago.

At the beginning of the investigation, police said there were only five victims in the shooting, where in fact a sixth woman survived and was helping police

--  -

It would appear that, prior this latest University shooting incident, no one had considered a botched deadly armed robbery which took 5 lives would re-kindle the debate on gun control....

But will this very latest tragic shooting re-new the vigor on both sides?

Will more tragedy only strenghthen the resolve of gun owners to grip their rifles and guns more tightly?

Commom sense, logic and history all seem to suggest such shootings do not soften the stance of gun owner rights advocates.

As this quickly released press release shows.

Now Playing: What are you coldharvest: a parrot?

This is for the poster from The Black Flag Cafe located at http://comebackalive.com/site3.php?page_id=12

 known as RYP.

Sir, if you ever wanted to or ever desired to be a writer in your entire life you have relinquished such a title

..exactly the same as somewhere along the line Conrad Black him self decided he no longer wished to be a businessman but a criminal, the President decided he wanted to be a Republican Revolutionary instead of a President...RYP decided he no longer wished to be deserved of the title of writer.

And no matter what anybody says about any other celebs like head turners like Paris Hilton or Britney Spears

at least you Sir have your privacy, your personal life and your name

plus your success and many friends, and your smart mouth to use from behind your Macintosh computer

Believe it or not, Hollywood portrayals of Americans Indians have not always been accurate.

But oh, oh oh , that fucker RYP he knew that all along.

RE: BLOG ENTRY ON WRITERS BACK TO WORK

I guess I had it right, write, ...right.

The show Stargate Atlantis has a Canadian writing team and although SGA is produced by American based SciFi network, the show writers are Canadian (WGC) and didnt participate in the strike.

At least thats what this guy wrote.

Its kind of interesting because actor Amanda Tapping just left that show to start on a new one called Sanctuary, which started out as a web series.

It will feature actors performing against virtual backdrops known as 'green screens'.

Something on this level I don't believe we have seen since 'Sky Captain and the World of Tommorow.

By the way, for the aforementioned film, A-listers Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow were sequestered early to the film and practically volunteered their efforts.

If that film were made in the 1940's (as it so looks like it has) it would won ALL the Academy Awards in every category.

It really is a spectacular sumptuous visual feast with treats for all the senses. Fine actors, fine performances, cleverly crafted zippy script and does not try to be what it is not. Rip roaring plot to boot. It has those echoes of evel mad Nazi scientists and reek of jazzy smoky cabarets if you know what I mean.

Everyones a critic.

Back to our show already in progress. Like, uh,-----yeah.

"I remember being offended when a German friend once suggested to me that Australian writers had it easy: no history, no looming pantheon of literary greats crushing you before you had even begun. Germany, she said, was a place of the highest literary culture, the country that gave the world Goethe and Thomas Mann and Nietzsche and Herman Hesse and Brecht. 'They still my pen every time,' she said, 'but you. You are free!' " -Australian writer Susan Johnson

Thrilling news...

Prince, Madonna and Michael Jackson all turn 50 this year...

an interesting enough prospect to write about? Tantalized are we?

It would be if the writer had mentioned stretched vocal chords and ageing,

or perhaps Tina Turner  <,,toured and performed, wowed audiences (including yours truly) at age 61, no exclamation mark required)

or Cher, <--received a Grammy nod at age 57!)

or how Abba will not ever do a reunion tour so as to not disappoint their most ardent and faithful fans.

Without out even  a blip about employment prospects doing voice-overs in Disney animated movies...or how the real watermark for aging rock star success is if you can manage to keep your tunes out of commercials for Liquid Plumber jingles and into downloadable cellphone ring*tones (I am totally proud to have Michael Jacksons 'Dirty Diana' on mine!)

but alas, if you are motivated enough, voila,

Do read: Time to take a bow

The article makes you want to think about a whipped mocha coffee with nothing but frothy goodness to imbibe instead...

while Pat Benatar, the Go-Go Girls and Tiffany found their stars dimmed to wistful meanderings down memory lane, Madonna has led an entire legion of stand up proper and lay it down lo feminista sexualized singer celebrities beginning with Britney and probably ending with Nell Furtado and even Jewel in between. She led the pack and still does.

The reason this female artist has not led her age limit her appeal is in the same mode and fashion David Bowie has. Letting creativity lead the way and popularity and sometimes fickle public taste not determine your destiny. They seem to have an acute understanding and method downpacked of not taking less than stellar record sales too personally. All great careers have dips and no one should try to jet line a career with such dizzying success so as to captivate fans time and time again with no gaps in between.

Is this the reason for Spears failure beyond poor parenting and bad management?

Many people seemeed to be of the opine she would be lucky a few weeks ago to even reach the age of 30.

With the news circulating of a restraining order of sorts against a bad playuh in her small circle of un`erstanders, I think her prospects of enjoying a long fulfilling life full of continued happiness just improved.

But will the cameras let her? Give us time to forget we need another distraction is the siren call ....
