Back when the original Bladerunner came out..it actually lost money.

Thats what happens when you release a film to compete

against a green martian who loves M&M's that children flock to.

By this I mean to refer to a movie called: . E.T.

But few movie goers today would have trouble recognizing the name Sir.! Ridley Scott

as being synonomous to one the best reputations in the business

for delivering top notch sure-fire entertainment.

Meanwhile here in the virtual world of reality, more eye

catching headlines destined to make table top and dinner

conversations irresistably more endearing....

cannabis replacing opium poppies in Afghanistan.

- -

But I'll tel yuh this...heres a real must have for Vancouverites on

that evening winter stroll down Granville Street, jah?

Meanwhile, I do not think such a faux art neveau would be of

much benefit at my present locale..

nice contrast though.....

Click here if you are drop dead tired of reading about

new Michael "Yawn" Mann films (Alex Litvinenko spy thrills anyone?)

in the works!

This is the age of media irresponsibility. And poor media accountablity.  Print media is running scared.

Arms dealer implicates Canadian ex-prime minister in cover-up

 http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/afp/canada_germany_justice_schreiber_politics_mulroney

Former prime minister Brian Mulroney allegedly tried to hide cash payments of 300,000 dollars he received from an arms dealer now facing charges in Germany the CBC reports.

- -

This reminds me of when the leader of the U.S. met with the leader of Canada prior to entry in the last world war, just off the eastern coast of Canada. Apparently, Germany had a spy planted at the Swiss Embassy in Europe who lifted secret plans that had been relayed there from the Swiss Embassy in the U.S. This came about because the American VP at that time was congenial enough with the Swiss diplomat to share information (being his sisters husband), although he never knew he was a Nazi dupe.

--

"Henry Wallace, the Vice-President, was an even greater liability, happily confiding his plans for world peace – and his disparaging view of FDR – to a Russian spiritualist, from whom they no doubt quickly made their way to others. Worse still, Wallace’s sister Mary was married to the Swiss Ambassador, Charles Bruggmann, whom Wallace would ring on a daily basis, passing on everything said in Cabinet as well as FDR’s most secret conversations with Churchill. Bruggmann dutifully cabled the lot back to Berne, from where ‘Habakuk’, a Nazi agent inside the Foreign Ministry, passed it on to Hitler."

Long before Tom Ellison admitted to having sex with his teenage students at a Vancouver high school, two filmmakers were quietly gathering threads of a "secret" that had been the subject of gossip for more than 25 years.

THE CONTRACTOR

The first

novel to address the issue of
American secret prisons in the war
on terror.

It captures the terrifying
strains between politics, public
service and private life.

...dramatizing the deals
one negotiates with oneself and
others:  the human contract.

The story of Cain and Abel.

To rave reviews...:

Report Links Teen Smoking, Depression
Smoking cigarettes may make teens more susceptible to depression, alcohol abuse, and illegal drug use, a new report states.
The report "Tobacco: The Smoking Gun" was released today by the Columbia University's National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA).
Also, researchers at Temple University have found that 16- and 18-year-olds exposed to secondhand smoke at home were 30 percent less likely to pass standardized tests than their peers.
They reached this conclusion after analyzing data from thousands of mothers and children in the United Kingdom, and factoring in other risk factors, such as socioeconomic status, gender and smoking by teens.
The findings add to a growing body of evidence that secondhand smoke affects children's academic performance. This study, published in the Journal of Adolescent Health, did not answer why.

I think I just might dedicate this blog to all the beautiful women in the world  and who in turn bring so much beauty to the world.

- - -

Robert Fox, executive director of Oxfam, is calling on Ottawa and other governments to increase aid to impoverished countries and better promote public services.

The World Health Organization says two and a half billion people in developing countries do not have access to simple latrines, and for at least one billion of them, finding safe drinking water is a daily struggle.

http://www.drinking-water.org/flash/splash.html

--

The founder of Cirque du Soleil, Guy Laliberte, pledged $100 million to fund a new foundation that will help provide fresh water to the world's poorest countries.

"CIRQUE DU SOLEIL is a real-life rags-to-riches tale. In 1973, its founder Guy Laliberté left home armed with an accordion and a backpack. He had a vision of creating a surreal high-tech circus without animals, and eleven years later he set up Cirque du Soleil—a company which now has six touring shows, permanent theaters in Las Vegas and Orlando and revenues approaching $1 billion."

Only one of 17 billionaires from Canada according to Forbes.

"This isn't about charity," said Fox, who's based in Ottawa. "This is a rights issue, and we have an obligation to organize ourselves to ensure that people can access those services."

- -

Everyone, especially women and girls, should be able to access public services including clean water, education and health care.

Giving impoverished women the means to support themselves and their families could help put an end to poverty.
