In other words, if you are a gem hunter like me always looking for that something a little less run of the mill, maybe if you find this one on the DVD aisle you will give it more than a 2nd look.
The film lives and breathes by its tag line throughout which is: Where life is cheap. And hope is priceless.
Theres something about the inescapably tragic that sets the tone for truly beatific moments we think only Hollywood has license to capture. Until someone behind the lens adds a further deft twist to gently encourage us to cultivate our senses a little more meaningfully, to try to find something that transcends even the most mundane and bleak filled existence.
Premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival, it went straight to DVD.
I have more respect for actor Brendan Fraser than ape man comedies, ever since seeing him in films like George of the Jungle, Encino Man and Blast from the Past
(School Ties, With Honours, Gods and Monsters are three films that give him just a little bit more dpeth of character to explore!)
He is a member of FilmAid International , a non-profit organization headquartered in New York City which screens films throughout refugee camps in Africa to help promote mental health and cultural understanding within refugee communities.
