Christiane Ouimet

http://img.src.ca/2010/09/15/480x270/100915christiane-ouimet-commissaire_8.jpg

the disgraced former public-sector integrity commissioner who ignored whistleblower complaints and tormented her staff was a no-show for Parliament's public accounts committee Tuesday.

She retired from the post shortly before auditor general Sheila Fraser issued a damning report on Ouimet's dismal performance.

Meanwhile, in another part of the forest, Canadian Parliament is in lock down mode, members breaths are bated, as we head for a showdown at big sky (cue tension inducing sherrif - bad guy music) ..

This is a government that got its way into town and promising the citizens openess, accountability and transparency cried the man in the white hat. "Hell-,..youv'e turned" he added gravelly.

"The federal government is trying to keep the cost of its law-and-order agenda a secret — and its refusal to make the figures public could set Parliament up for another high-stakes battle between the Conservatives and opposition MPs over access to information"

.......

protected by cabinet confidence, [these] policy discussions [are] to be kept private [secret] and shields them from the Access to Information Act..

Dummies. Cant they see?
Dont they know what this means? Can they not see the public image accountability issue? Canadians have a right to know how their hard earned money is being spent. Wisely, foolishly, capriciously or everything else be damned.

I think I'll probably buy something at the very, very, very,-.....VERy last moment. It'll probably be a chocolate or something. And as I'll deftly pop it in my mouth after a casual five foot vaunt toss into the air and savor the thought till next year-lol...

But I was inspired here to make a quick entry (can I call it a quickie-lol)...

...and blog about Vancouver weddings. Summer weather here with its gorgeous setting of beautific mountains and ocean makes it a perfect locale for your 50,000 investment to tie the know forver.

It would appear even our world and internationally famous Vancouver Public Library will accept your ultimate romantic overture, your life long serenade to your sweetie..

The format of the show Dragons Den is owned by Sony and is based on an original Japanese TV series, rights of which have been sold around the world.

PVR

http://www.allshopping.ca/public/shop/products/mediums/103/shaw_pace_hd_receiver_dc758d.jpg

So I wanted to put my new PVR to  good use and wondered to my self when that opportunity might arise.

Would it be a interrupting phone call that would cause me to hit the 'pause' button? Would Mother Nature call just when a splendid part of a film is on? Or a smoke break. (Hmmh I am not a regular enough smoker what good use could I possibly get from a PVR-lol)

OK so anyway, I was in a hurry and busy and distracted from a work load so I thought I will use it for an old edition of Dragons Den that was on.

And I am glad I did because so far it is the only episode I have seen that features pitchmen who actually TURN DOWN the offer of the famous ruthless dragons. It is notoriously hard to get over their doubt, skepticism and pro know how wiseness and hard knocks experience. (This is why I continue to love the show, its very educational!)

FYI

These are the guys that turned down the Dragons offer of one million dollars (in exchange for a 40 equity stake in the company)...and they did it smiling, walking away with a grin.

Funny what occured to me watching the episode on UMB services. Could it have saved me a great deal of trouble about 5-6 years ago, really?

The girls in the photo right-below were (astro) turfed by the Dragons as I had blogged (blaaaghed) about earlier. Are they doing just as well now or better? I am eternally curious.

President Obama and Prime Minister Harper Press Conference

6:38

February 05, 2011

Our Prime Minister just referred to the President of the United States on a first name basis (and not : "President Obama".)..

but yes anywaze

Prime Minister Stephen Harper and U.S. President Barack Obama today issued a Declaration on a Shared Vision for Perimeter Security and Economic Competitiveness.  The Declaration establishes a new long-term partnership that will accelerate the legitimate flows of people and goods between both countries, while strengthening security and economic competitiveness.  The two leaders also announced the creation of a U.S.-Canada Regulatory Cooperation Council (RCC) and received the Second Report to Leaders on the U.S.-Canada Clean Energy Dialogue (CED)

..not everyone's going to appreciate this. But I am a pretty big Michael Mann film fan.

“A 65ft screen and 500 people reacting to the movie,” shrugs Michael Mann. “There’s nothing like that experience.”

Keeping Canadian feathers dry...

With about an average of 1117.2 mm's of rain falling per annum in Vancouver (about 2/3rd's of which fall in five months of Fall/Winter)

http://thesecretsofvancouver.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/vancouver-rain-clouds.jpg

you'd wonder why we don't see more of this and products like it being plugged

 http://www.nikwax.com

 http://www.nikwax.com/en-us/products/productdetail.php?productid=273&activityid=6

perhaps its because we don't care or are lazy or thinks its bad for either ourselves or our environment

but apparently not so bad for our green mindset so perhaps we do not have the gumption, herwithal or would just rather stick to our rain slicked feathers

http://www.vancouversun.com/technology/4024640.bin?size=620x400

Its raining outside. When is it ever raining: "inside"? :)

http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2011/02/04/exclusive-interview-brian-mulroney-remembers-his-friend-ronald-reagan/

The issue is the environment. Who coined that word synonymous with ecological preservation anyway: 'environment'?
