Think about it. Have you ever heard of a such thing as a Victorian Age?
Have you ever wondered about why corsets and bustiers became fashion mainstays of theiur day and why they are around even today? Why did the brassierre come into existence?
I promise to the thought-cops out there (and you know who you are) that I wont have a good long thunk about it, perhaps I already have.
Why then would the Brits (pre-Internet age dawn and all that jazz) , worldy reknown for being a male-centric female oppressing society be internationally known as prudes?
As with any one country, and any one nationhood and one nationalized country identity, when it comes to sex, the citizens are hardly of one mind. (I wonder if religion i.e. Catholicism/Protestantism could have something to do with it?)
But as one sharply acerbic writer surmises: what we need to do is somehow stop women from having sex. Period.

How to stop women from having sex
(Just by the way, for me the word of the day is: "tautology.")
And although it is a fascinating, thought-provoking indictment on male domination and where it extends: from the bedroom to the political arena to elsewhere....I have to wonder if PLanned PArenthood has the statistics to back up their clams whichever they may be. Britain has the highest rate of teenage pregnancy in Western Europe and moreover, at least when it comes to STD's and the nasty 'A'-word, do they have stats to back up the impacts they are having; morals aside.
In any case, and at least for men, merely reading it is bound to increase your sense of healthy respect for where your malecentric interest and concern for shape and condition in the realm of women owning their own bodies ends...not much further past the length of your own nose. And thats pretty well the point of this entry. If youre male.
After all is said and done, there really is such thing as respect with a capital 'r'.
