I hereby dedicate the following article to Mach and all his so-called problems at the aptly named Black Flag Cafe. IN fact, you could christen the whole issue on Machs head, and he wouldnt mind. Er, would not complain.

http://www.smithsonianmag.com/ideas-innovations/What-Turned-Jaron-Lanier-Against-the-Web-183832741.html

But app-air-ently he is without net axxess right now at home and the result of working in public places has apparently limited the creative thought output  as I see the artist statement for the graphic art seems to be off a wild degrees or two. Here he talks in the 2nd person and laments the loss of color scheming.

Crazy.

Crashed. er-,..read that as KEE - RASHED! Cymbals clang sound goes here!

Originally tried to change the template for this blog last week already. Wont load new template so color scheme is off and customization doesnt work at all.

Yes I really wanted it a deep vermillion red, oh well! (Grrr!)

A sign from the universe   I guess-,..

that nearly 7 .55 years at this same spot

(eg https://mach1231.tripod.com/index.blog?from=20060831

https://mach1231.tripod.com/index.blog?from=20070831

has reached a toll of sorts.

Besides, not having a color scheme when I need one is very bad for my image.

So

But a parting shot, just look at this guy. Never even heard of 'im b4 2day.
Apparently one of Hitlers broomkeepers (you know, keepn the dust off him whenever the devil traveled)
...of course you'd never know that just by looking at him.

After having recently vented my frustrations at the quality of free print journalism here in a big city in Western Canada, I have recently experienced 'writers remorse' and am now.. :

...blowing hot and cold .

I should be careful of what I wish for I suppose. A better world as seen through the eyes of print journalism. That's a lot to ask for!

Ohhhh those Super Bowl ads ! can we ever get enough of hearing about them?

Or is that the sound off your mouse clicking off the page , straddling the very know web Universe-,... all of a sudden reaching my ears?

Anyway, by a comparative standard I would say the cost of 3 million dollars cost to air is a bargain.

The resultant publicity in even mentioning your product is going to be featured as a paid sponsor is enough for the 3 million to  pay for itself at least once.

And that is not even counting the actual viewers who actually chomp their nachos, slug their beers and dance scantily clad while the action is not on.

But you don't have to wait to see the incomparable Ms.Kate Upton in the latest Benz visual outing. Click here.

Or here for a tease.

Driving, washing cars and eating fast food in America will never be the same!

 Countdown: ONE WEEK TO http://www.mbfashionweek.com/home

And refresher: the spring fashion shows are always one season behind (one of the first things you learn in fashion school:)

Heres some more speed for you:

America's Next Top Model launch premiere happened on

May 20, 2003

and the show quickly became one of the network's highest-rated shows. And then-,...

Project Runway made its inaugral debut

 December 1, 2004.

receiving wide critical acclaim, including an Emmy nomination for outstanding competitive reality series.

Anyway, it would not be too long for Germany's Next Topmodel to come along in 2006.

Heidi Klum original 'Project Runway' judge was breifly attached to it a few weeks ago as they were filming in LA....(wolf whistles!)

http://gossipcenter.com/heidi-klum/heidi-klum-visits-set-germanys-next-top-model-791718

But this is where GnTM was in LA again this week . filming about 10 blocks from the

Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising Los Angeles. (FIDM-LA)

And just btw, some of these fashion people have SUCH interesting backgrounds.

For instance,

Nick Verreos, fashion designer, and“Project Runway” alums

 FIDM-LA alumni

father was a U.S. State Department diplomat in Panama, who had met his wife (Nicks mother), whose great uncle was the president of Venuezuela.

But go ahead and see here what Nick Verreos, fashion designer, and“Project Runway” alum has to say about "style icon" Michelle Obamas fashion sense

And just case you actually like to follow fashion and trends ..

But if this no longer excites you, or , as long as youre here, do check out these guys and the grey overcoat fashion sense for the new

J U L I AN A S S A N G E movie being filmed. In Berlin. (You have to say that out loud with the most unusual sense of aplomb: "In Berlin!?" (.....!)

And finally as if all this patterning and sew stitching of various news snippets showcasing Presidential Lady fashion trends and Presidents great nephews were not enough, I will leave you with this:

And the thought that one of the coolest places you can watch Project Runway now is in the Arab world. (Now, over to you, Jim!:)

North to Alaska: Ice Road Luxury Class Drivers
Mood:  caffeinated
Topic: Travel

For those who have not seen it, few things are as breathtaking and as wonderously beautiful as snow capped mountains peaked against a backdrop of pure blue sky.

Ice drops form in the crystals of your eyes and you could wish the entire world could at once have an enduring snapshot of such utter majesty and feel the rush of pure wind upon your bare cheeks as you gaze upon its magnificant spectacle!

Not to stop for long though as the true north continues its call for you to continually unravel its unfolding beauty down the road in the ribbon of life.

Mercedes is answering that call showcasing itself in style. A trailblazer unafraid to match its luxury against the elements.

When youre this far north

In keeping thematic with the ARTS: Poetry in Motion

Hello! magazine recently labeled Iceland as “winter's hottest new romantic destination".

Indeed the now famous natural outdoor spa known as the Blue Lagoon is increasingly found near the top of "bucket list" (and places to see before you die I suppose (just a guess)-,..

and was recently feautured as a focal point of Europes TOP 10 Coolest Small Towns.

But speaking of small, it would appear that Iceland is also a good locale for shooting million dollar commercials and test tracking?

Turns out the new Mercedes-Benz affordable luxury class is poised to gain some new found traction in the hearts and minds of Americas drivers to further enhance their love of the road and wide open spaces.

The new smaller car while under wraps  so to speak (while apparently with Kate Uptons car wash ad the brand new #1 reason to watch the Super Bowl this year!) was once upon a time intrepidly spotted vis a vis off beat travel tale: in Iceland.

But I have to say shes looking good. A very sporting looking unit!

Play your awesome deep bass beat electronica DJ track now to prepare.

Otherwise, clearer shots and blurless photos are here.

Looks like all roads lead to Upton and The Super Bowl.

A Hitchhikers Guide the Web
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Books and Magazines

As you can see from the 'Entries by Topic' header on the sidebar, this is far from being a THEMATIC blog.

It doesnt settle and nestle on right or left wing politics, flounder in a constantly changing world of travel industry news, or fester from a easily located issues-laden geocache focusing strictly on human rights issues or surviving on a diet of controversy or provide a running commentary on iniquity..:)

It seeks to be a practical anomaly in the blogosphere, an outpost in the magazine aisles, a Saturday Evening Post blather where you are potentially in for anything from a laugh inducing photo gag cartoon as you are a heralding of a scientific achievement or plugging of the latest gadget or new musical artist or positioning from the shoulders of giants on the business world.

So thus let me say this. Some people , some families, some societies, some tribes, some clans are prone and drawn to deserts. Whether they are ice or sand. Some are prone to oceans and their expanse; welcoming or not! Some are drawn to mountains whether the shade of their towering height to eclipse the sun or the view from on high to drink the view below and taste the rareified air on top.

And yet what of the worlds first real roads, the paths carved by retreating glaciers, makeshift suppliers of our power and bypass holders of our crucial life supporting water, the first real iders of the worlds greatest explorers who fought dense foilage and crowded forests to reach the Pacific, the path to Asia-,...who first arrived via river.

Tell me true, how hard would you fight, how idle would you be in the security of your own lands, would you rise to fight the nation a few hundred kilometres down or upriver who polluted your water supply...or demand the UN and its auspices be taken down brick by solid brick?

So here the topic is travel, but its also about greening the economy and inevitably: politics. But its also about rivers, if you could only find the common thread and reduce the polarity of your already filtered thinking.

Stand. Rise. Fall.

Cheers and prost. To which ever station in life you have, whatever position you take, of from where ever your view is. Our interconnectivity has never been as realized as much if not for the boldness of our explorers.  As a contant factor as it may be online, it is rarely acknowledged. Let is it never be said you were un-welcomed. But never forgotten the discovery of North America came about not from a search about for a rumour for but by accident as a resting point. A huge earth shattering great discovery. A new land.

Thought for the Day

Beautiful day today in Vancouver CANADA.

<insert photo here :)>

Made all the more beautiful by the fact I am cognizant daily of the fact I remain in a free country.

The only thing I am missing is someone one to help me release my hands and wrists from these self-imposed handcuffs from the keyboard and explore the world at large rather than with the Internets and my feet nailed to the floor.

With that said, I celebrate with you the very freedoms we enjoy daily and with the richness of our country of which we remain hopefully tethered too despite lofty ambitions driving our visions of how much better it can be.

I celebrate with you and cherish the very thought that indeed we have made this country better. All of us. It should bring the sting of tears to my eyes.

If there were a simple barometer of worse, neutral (i.e. no progress) or better I would say: better.

But of course everything on the net is static and geo-stationary; depending on our station in life. For better or for worse there is only one constant: change. And we are left with the proceeds of our actions, whether they are for better or for worse, and ultimately we decide what to do with them. i.e. the proceeds of our actions.

And jsut fyi, the scoffed picture below is Alberta. Only saying..

Living in the city is not always fun fun fun. We can go nowhere in life without goals, an unending quest on an constantly receding horizon can result in groundlessness, and there is nothing like a posted picture to serve as a reminder and wayfinder (should we ever be distracted for too long and lose our way temporarily)-,..for where we aim to be one day.

Why you should never trust the photos hotels post online
